01 - QUIET COMPLAINT - lyrics by Koukonen
Quiet Complaint is a song that was one of the favourites for all of us from the very beginning. Because of this, it was also the first song for this album I wrote the lyrics and did the vocal production. When I started with this, I still wasn't really sure what this album will be about and I just decided to go really personal with the lyrics this time. There is no need to open this up line by line but it's all about something I just had to put out into a song at the time. This is all about the inner vortex in a situation where human relations around you start falling apart. All because of you, not realising to walk away from certain factors and situations in your life you really don't belong into, nor feel happy about. All of this then escalating to a point where mentally it feels like you are the only fucking issue of the mankind. Quiet Complaint was originally not supposed to be the record-opener but we struggled a little with the song order and decided to go straight into the business on this record, so there you have it.
02 - THE LAST OF US - lyrics by Hyvönen

The Last of Us describes the inevitable end, which we are basically already experiencing. I came up with this lyrical theme after reading Elisabeth Kolbert’s “The Sixth Extinction”. It might be rude to say, but as a human race we definitely would need some kind of a total shock to get the understanding of what we are doing. It is actually unbelievable how in such a short period of time of walking on this earth we have almost perfectly managed to ruin our possibilities for the bright future. We tend not to learn: we might stop, but we always rewind to the start and repeat our mistakes. At the same time we are always ready to sacrifice everything we have for the sake of success and still be proud of it until our last breath. When I first heard the demo of this song I secretly wished that this lyrical theme would end up to it. Luckily also Koukonen had the same thought and I personally think that he succeeded to make one of the best vocal arrangements so far in our history with this song. Silvonen is also giving a great additional feeling with his melodic and clean vocals in the first verse and chorus. This song was originally recorded as a bonus track for the album but it turned out to become something much more than that.

Architects is a some kind of statement of this time. It refers to the problems and distress of the world, but at the same time highlights the point of view, that we only blame each other. We are not taking any responsibility of our own actions, even though we would have the keys in our hands to make a difference. We are only wasting our time and energy on social media spreading our useless opinions in every matter of this life and triggering hate with even bigger hate. No one is offering solutions, only pointing fingers. Instead of building bridges people are building barriers and only gathering their troops for even bigger confrontation. I feel disgusted. From a political point of view I truly don’t see the difference in the message we hear from the far sides of the field. No matter if you take a look in the left or right, you only see these selfish clones, who blindly and brutally are pushing forward their own political agenda. Well, as the lyric states out, I guess we deserve that all: we are the architects of our own fall.

04 - WE FORM THE BROKEN - lyrics by Koukonen
I'm here for you, you're in a solitude, so together we form the broken. Kind of a memoir, kind of a statement of what you've been through, how you know things will end, and kind of a simple love song in the deepest of all the meanings. It's a one to follow my style of writing with this certain straight-forward honesty, from my own life. There's something new for our sound here, as I simply wanted to get crucified by all the extremely pure metalheads with the whining clean intro here. This was one of the first new songs for this album.
05 - REMNANTS - lyrics by Miika Saari / Hyvönen
Remnants is a song that originates to back in the days, 2009 maybe. We actually even played an early version of this song live one time but it didn't really fit anywhere and we couldn't get it sound tight enough so it was left out from our production at the time. Antti decided to give it a little facelift during "HEAL" pre-production, and being something so different, it ended up on this album to give a great variety with being a more rhythmic song with completely new vocal arrangements. Miika is a good friend of us, has done a lot of background work for us on cover arts, gigs etc. and it was discussed at some point that if he'd got something to say lyrically, bring it in and let's see if we can make it fit. Hyvönen had some great lines to fulfil the text. The complete story? It was a hell, guaranteed.

The lyrics of this song are meant to uncover what is universal, unconditional and unselfish love. Not a most common theme for a lyric of a metal piece, but somehow these melancholic words fit in with the floating atmosphere of the song. Times we had describes this feeling in good and in bad: healing and killing at the same time, the thin line between wanting and needing and the paradox of living with or without. The object of love in this particular song is praised through a never ending connection, that no distance or time can’t change. Many definitely may relate to that, no matter whatever the object is in ones life. But to make the story of this song bitter sweet perfect, everything is left open and without a solution, repeating again and again through a lifetime just like a curse.

08 - DIVINIA - lyrics by Hyvönen

From a lyrical perspective Divinia is a controversial song. It combines themes from perseverance, determination and almightiness to pretty dark thoughts of ending and leaving everything. The origin of the text is actually pretty old, but it has evolved and got some additions through times. Still, the main message of the song has stayed the same: everyone has his or her own ghosts that haunt and own battles to fight. The trick is to try to live with them. In my opinion, there is a one fundamental question to solve in life: who will you follow? I see it in a way, that you either obey to act as expected or you simply choose to follow yourself. Whatever it is then, no matter what path we choose to walk, we should face everything that may come. The song describes the view of the life, where you have decided to follow only yourself and where everything is about achieving, succeeding, competing, winning and hating losing. Those are the primary factors or drugs, that keep you moving and it is just like with all the other intoxicants: without them you feel totally incomplete and faint, deeply incapable and unsatisfied. These are maybe the most personal lyrics I have written.

Time is a big symbol and allegory for heal on this whole record and this song is about running out of it, as all of us unfortunately will sooner or later. This is the song where you go through the fear and faith, joy and anger, up's and down's of your life and in the end knowledge there is, after all, nothing we can heal. It really is a rollercoaster ride with so many different atmospheres, and obviously the long run to close the album.
